paul brannon
Schooling:
Graduated Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, 1991; B.A. in Religion from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Background:
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Have resided in Southwest Ohio all my life. Son of Pastor James and Linda Brannon. I have two brothers, Joseph and Mark (older & younger respectively). My parents were loving and supportive and modeled love for God and faith that sustains.
Family:
My wife, Jenni, and I have three beautiful, intelligent children, Ethan (10), Abby (5), and Colin (3). Jenni came from an Air force family and has lived all around the world and the United States. Though we had quite a rocky beginning, God has brought much healing in our marriage and has made us best friends, and has blessed us with many opportunities to minister to others out of our own experiences.
My testimony:
I was raised in a preacher's home and accepted Christ at the age of six. However, due to being sexually abused and exposed to pornography at a young age, my understanding of love and God was distorted. I always wanted to be a preacher like my father, but rebelled a bit in high school thinking I was going into architecture. God changed my mind through a definitive call to preach and I pursued ministry in college. After a period of spiritual relapse from 1996-2000, I rededicated my life to Christ and strive to surrender to Him daily. He has shown me that we all are broken in some way, and it is only through the healing power of Christ that we can be forgiven and healed. By applying the truths found in His Word and dedication to my own recovery, God has strengthened me to overcome obstacles I never thought possible.
Strengths:
Jesus Christ. Headstrong, but flexible. Dry sense of humor and sensitivity. Creative and musical.
Weaknesses:
Me! Tend to procrastinate. Perfectionist to a fault. Can be stubborn and emotionally elusive. Worrisome.
Life verses:
I John 4:18 "There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out all fear."
Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
James 5:16 "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you
may be healed."
