Mission Ukraine

Living Hope's passion for being poured out extends beyond the walls of our church and communities. We believe God is calling us as followers of Christ to be the church in our world! Mission Ukraine has been born out of this heart!

World Light Foundation is an international, nonprofit, charity foundation working with orphans in the Ukraine, primarily those infected by HIV/AIDS.

The Mission: To open children’s centers for kids affected/infected with HIV/AIDS and for abandoned and orphaned children. Our primary objective is to improve the quality of life for these needy children, give them a hope and a future all in a warm home environment.

Future Development:
An old school building was donated to World Light Foundation. It is a wonderful blessing which will be able to house more than 100 children. However, before it can be used it must be renovated. It is estimated that it will take a total of 1 million dollars to complete the project. For this small cost, many of Ukraine’s street children will be able to find a home!

The Dark Reality

Ukraine has over 100,000 orphans.
Only 10% are orphaned due to death of parents; the rest are social orphans (those in government care due to alcoholism, abandonment, or incarceration of parents.)
60% of girls will end up in prostitution.
50% of boys will enter a life of crime.
Approximately 10% of them will commit suicide after leaving orphanages before their 18th birthday.
Among homeless children, every second child has HIV and hepatitis C as a result of drug use and prostitution.

How you can pray

~ Please continue to pray for the children at the children’s center in Vapnyarka, Ukraine.
~ Pray for the street children, that God would show them His love and that they would accept it.
~ Pray for the children who have already made a decision to come off the street. That they would be committed to their decision, that they would stay strong as they rehabilitate, and that they would be a light to others who have not yet left life on the street.
~ Pray that God would continue to provide for the physical and financial needs of World Light Foundation.
~ Pray that God would raise up the people and resources to finish their new facility to house more children.

How you can make a difference

In 2010 we launch a child sponsorship ministry. The purpose of the sponsorship is to build relationships with the children. You can choose to make a one-time donation that will be used to meet needs of the orphans in general or you can participate in a more personal, on-going sponsorship. In the latter you would sponsor one orphan for 2010 by agreeing to write the child at least four times a year and by sending $20 a month that will be used solely for the child you choose. All 22 orphan’s pictures, names, ages and interests are displayed on our Ukraine display in the main lobby. Simply take the card for the child you wish to sponsor, complete the form and return place it in the box on the display. Please take a child sponsorship card only if you plan to make the
commitment.
